Happy January, fellow music lovers! We here at Independent Jones have been celebrating the beginning of 2019 with the launch of our new blog!
This is where you can find out about all the best live music and events happening around your town. Our new year officially kicked off with our newest music event: The Lakewood Ranch Backyard Concert Series: Live Music in the Park! For three beautiful Springtime Sundays, we have partnered together with some of the best collaborators in Lakewood Ranch to bring you some of the freshest local music in the area. Hosted at Summerfield Community Park, the Backyard Concert Series is our favorite way to cap of the weekend in here the Bradenton area.
This previous Sunday, we were lucky enough to host Have Gun, Will Travel for the first week of our three-part music series. These Bradenton natives played their hearts out for the fans with their original and exciting style of alternative folk music. As usual, their blend of Old West-inspired lyrics and new folk-rock country sound kept the crowd cheering all afternoon. We know that they loved playing in Lakewood Ranch as much as we loved listening. Their unique sound has allowed the band to tour nationwide but it's always a good time and a great showing when they get to play a show in their own hometown.
We also loved watching our music fans play frisbee and soccer on the park grounds right next to the stage. This event was perfect for the whole family, as Summerfield Park offers several playgrounds and lots of space for Sunday Funday activities.
We want to say thank you to all of our partners who helped put on this amazing event! We were lucky enough to work with The Lakewood Ranch Community Activities, Lakewood Ranch, the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund, and the Lakewood Ranch Community Development Districts Homeowners Association. We also have so much appreciation for our food truck vendors (that’s POLPO Pizza Co. and Kona Ice Manatee) for providing such delicious chow while we jammed out. Our incredible band also deserves the biggest shoutout for putting on such a great show - thanks, Have Gun, Will Travel! We are excited to hear you guys on whatever stage you take over next.
Most of all, we have to give a big shout out to the local community that came out to party with us! We can’t do it without all of our amazing fans. We love that you are interested in our events and help us keep the live music flowing in Manatee and Sarasota County!
Ready to come to another one of these amazing shows? Well, you’re in luck! Come hang out with us at our next Backyard Concert Series event to see live, Southern rock influenced music from The Bearded Brothers Band. This is a family event and leashed pets are welcomed. We encourage everyone to partake in our local food truck fare or bring their own picnic. The event runs from 1p.m. to 4 p.m. on February 10th at Summerfield Community Park, 6402 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. Lakewood Ranch, FL 34202. Feel free to bring your own chair or blanket and a cooler to lounge in the grass and enjoy the show (no glass please.)
We here at Independent Jones are looking forward to seeing you local legends and rockstars there!
